She was born in Istanbul. She received her bachelor’s degree in Turkish Language and Literature, Faculty of Arts and Sciences in 1988, her master’s degree in New Turkish Literature Department, Social Sciences Institute in 1990, and her doctorate degree in New Turkish Literature Department, Turkic Studies Institute in 1995 from Marmara University. She worked as a lecturer at Atatürk Education Faculty, Marmara University between 1989-1996. In 1996, she was appointed as an assistant professor to the Department of Turkish Language and Literature, Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Uludağ University. She became associate professor in 2002 and professor in 2009. She continues her academic studies in the fields of literary sociology, education-literature and children's literature. She has seven published books, various book chapters, articles and papers.

Her areas of interest are sociolinguistics, pragmatics, discourse analysis, critical discourse analysis, and gender and language relations. Related to these fields, she has papers presented in national and international conferences, articles, book chapters, a book, scientific research projects in which she took part as an executive and researcher.

Her studies focus on citizenship education, diversity and inclusive education, human rights and democracy education, gender, education of refugee children, critical pedagogy, critical discourse analysis, philosophy with children. She works as an expert in various projects on topics such as democratic citizenship and intercultural education. She is also a facilitator of philosophy with children and communities.

She completed her master's degree in General Linguistics at Dokuz Eylül University, in 2019 and continues her doctorate education in the same department. She worked as a Comenius language assistant at a primary school in Prague, Czech Republic, in 2013, and as an English instructor at İzmir A.V.S. of Higher Education, University of Turkish Aeronautical Association between 2014-2016. Since 2016, she has been teaching at the school of Foreign Languages, in İzmir Institute of Technology.
